Odds and Ends Sale

As described in the July 2010 newsletter, we made two small and less serious bottlings of four barrels each which cannot fit into the established allocation system: one a 2009 Zinfandel Rosé, the second a declassified 2008 Russian River Valley Pinot noir. These bottlings and a handful of cases of the 2007 Chardonnays set aside for our normal restaurant placements are being offered to our mailinglist customers on a first-come-first-served basis.

Print and fax the above order form to 707-823-0918. Alternatively, orders will be accepted by email and phone. Shipment of any wines purchased on this venue will be merged with those from newsletter orders. A 10% case discount can be combined with any newsletter orders received by July 31, 2010. For example, if you order 6 bottles through this offering, and 6 bottles from the July newsletter offering, both orders will receive at 10% discount.

2009 Zinfandel Rosé
This refreshing but succulent bottling is the latest in our series of varietal rosés. Inspired by a 1978 Dehlinger Zin Rosé that Tom and Carole had been craving to recreate for decades, this unfiltered bottling delivers with a full-bodied mouthfeel, crisp acidity, and strong fruit projection. The aromatic expression of Zinfandel was enhanced by a slow, cool fermentation. While completely dry, the wine is given a layer of richness from 7 months of aging in stainless steel and neutral oak barrels. The wine's vibrant raspberry hue is more intensely colorful than a Pinot rosé's. It will be ready to drink upon release, and should maintain its fruit forward personality at least through 2011. This is our first non-estate bottling in 30-odd-years. 95 cases produced. $16 per bottle.

2008 Russian River Valley Pinot noir
An enjoyable and medium intensity Pinot for easy, near-term consumption. While the wine does not have the depth of concentration required of our Estate bottled wines, it has authentic Russian River Valley character and texture. It displays distinct baked cherry pie flavors with a light oak spiciness. Originally planned as a component of our Goldridge Vineyard 2008 bottling, we have separated these 4 barrels and you can enjoy it for about half the price. 98 cases produced. $24 per bottle.

2007 See's Selection Chardonnay
The See's selection is a clonal mixture first grown at a Napa Valley vineyard owned by the famous candy family. It includes an aromatic clone with a Riesling-like essence. The 2007 See's Selection Chardonnay's aroma is a delightful interplay of flowers and honey with hints of stone fruits, orange peel, vanilla and butter. It is fresh, round and smooth on the palate and drinking very well right now. $32 per bottle.

2007 Estate Chardonnay
The most Burgundian styled white Dehlinger has produced. Strong aromas display fresh lime, baked apple, yeast, lightly grilled hazelnuts and minerals with restrained oak. Over 80% of the barrels were fermented with indigenous yeast and a slow malolactic fermentation. With seventeen months of bottle age, the acidity is softening and the flavors are becoming more assertive: This wine is at its prime. $37 per bottle.
The Dehlinger Winery is located at 4101 Vine Hill Road, Sebastopol, California 95472. (707) 823-2378
